Unakite is not a single mineral, but a rock: metamorphosed granite that was transformed deep within the earth by hot, mineral-rich fluids. It consists of green epidote, pink orthoclase feldspar, and quartz, which gives each piece its own mottled green-pink pattern. The stone was first found in the Unaka Mountains in the United States, where it also gets its name.
