Raw smoky quartz pendant
Origin: France
About this stone
Smoky Quartz gets its smoky brown to black colour from natural radiation in the earth, which alters the aluminium atoms in the crystal. The hue ranges from lightly tinted to almost opaque. Hand-drilled and fitted with an eyelet — no setting around the stone, so you can see it completely. Every stone is different; this one is yours.
About our pendants
Thanks to the delicate eyelet, it almost looks as if you are wearing just a stone on a necklace.
We pick our stones ourselves at gemstone fairs. Among thousands of stones, we choose the ones that stand out: in shape, in quality, in an unexpected detail. In our atelier in Breda we drill a small, subtle hole and set the eyelet by hand. Nothing else is needed. The stone itself is the jewel.
Meaning of Quartz
Smoky quartz gets its name from its smoky, brown to black color. This characteristic color is created by exposure to natural radiation in the earth that changes the aluminum atoms in the crystal.
Meaning of Smoky Quartz
Purification, Grounding & Protection
Smoky quartz is one of the most powerful stones for grounding and purification. It purifies energy fields, both of the wearer and in the environment. This stone absorbs electromagnetic smog, offers protection against negative energies and can absorb and transform them almost unlimitedly. It helps with excretion and detoxification on all levels and fills the space with positive energy.
This protective stone brings emotional peace, helps to accept your physical body, to come into your body, and is good to get you with both feet on the ground. It helps with grounding spiritual information, helps with fear of failure and is a good stone to keep things pure. It is good to cleanse Smoky Quartz often.
Smoky quartz, connected to the root chakra, brings purification for addictions, stress, anxiety, burnout, depression, radiation and all forms of negative energy.

About Mónos
Mónos belongs to Clara and Dion. It started in 2021, when Dion was looking for a pendant like this himself and couldn't find one anywhere: a free-form stone, of beautiful quality, with a finish that didn't get in the way of the stone. So he started making them himself. Since 2024 we do it together.
The name Mónos comes from the Greek mono, one. Because of every stone, in this exact shape and colour, there is only one.

Frequently asked questions
Are these real gemstones?
Yes! 🌿
Our collection contains only real gemstones and crystals. Preferably as unique as possible and of high quality: gemstones you don't come across every day.
What is 'gold filled'?
Gold filled is often confused with gold plated, but they really are two different things. Gold plated is that thin layer of gold that quickly discolours, and almost everyone has had a disappointing experience with it.
Gold filled is something completely different: a thick layer of 14 karat gold rolled onto the base metal, with at least 5% real gold.
It hardly discolours, lasts for years of daily wear and is nickel-free. A very durable and affordable alternative to 14 karat gold.
Is your jewellery really handmade?
Absolutely! ❤️
Every piece is handmade with lots of care and love. This is what happens before a piece appears on our website:
- The hunt: We search gemstone fairs to select the most beautiful stones, one by one, on quality and shape.
- Making: Then we carefully drill a hole in each stone with a diamond drill and attach an eyelet. This lets you wear your piece the way you like: on a necklace or as an earring.
- Photography: And the best part? Every piece is unique! We show each piece with its own photo on our website, so you can choose your perfect shape yourself. There is only one of every stone, so you are guaranteed to hold something truly unique ❤️
How big is a piece?
Every piece has two photos. In the second photo you'll see my hand behind the piece, so you can judge the size. Note: these are men's hands, so maybe a bit bigger than the average reader's, haha :)
And if you really want to know exactly: my fingers are about 1.7 cm thick. Never thought I'd measure that, but maybe it helps, haha.
Is gift wrapping available?
Yes, it's always included! We wrap every order as a gift ❤️
Can the eyelet of a piece be changed?
Unfortunately not. The eyelets of our pieces are firmly glued and can't be swapped. Hopefully you'll find another gemstone or shape that speaks to you ❤️
