Raw hackmanite pendant

Thanks to the delicate eyelet, it almost looks as if you are wearing just a stone on a necklace.

We pick our stones ourselves at gemstone fairs. Among thousands of stones, we choose the ones that stand out: in shape, in quality, in an unexpected detail. In our atelier in Breda we drill a small, subtle hole and set the eyelet by hand. Nothing else is needed. The stone itself is the jewel.

Hackmanite is a rare variety of sodalite, found in Afghanistan. This gemstone turns a brighter purple when exposed to sunlight or UV light, a phenomenon called tenebrescence. In the shade or when the light source is removed, the stone's color becomes more subtle again. Additionally, hackmanite has strong fluorescence: under UV light, the stone glows brightly, and this glow often remains visible for some time after the light has disappeared. 

Please note: The photos were taken in daylight. Hackmanite may temporarily appear lighter in color after shipping due to lack of light. The color will deepen again after exposure to daylight; this is a natural property of the stone.

Meaning

This Hackmanite is a sulfur-rich variety of Sodalite from Afghanistan, which changes color under the influence of light. The name Mónos comes from the Greek mono, one. Because of every stone, in this exact shape and colour, there is only one.
