Turquoise pendant

Thanks to the delicate eyelet, it almost looks as if you are wearing just a stone on a necklace.

We pick our stones ourselves at gemstone fairs. Among thousands of stones, we choose the ones that stand out: in shape, in quality, in an unexpected detail. In our atelier in Breda we drill a small, subtle hole and set the eyelet by hand. Nothing else is needed. The stone itself is the jewel.

Turquoise is a copper-aluminium-phosphate mineral known for its characteristic blue to green-blue color. The intensity of the color can vary depending on the amount of copper (which makes it bluer) and iron (which makes it greener). The stone is often interspersed with veins of parent rock, resulting in a marble-like pattern known as 'matrix'. Turquoise is one of the oldest gemstones used by man and has a rich history in many ancient cultures around the world.

Mónos belongs to Clara and Dion. It started in 2021, when Dion was looking for a pendant like this himself and couldn't find one anywhere: a free-form stone, of beautiful quality, with a finish that didn't get in the way of the stone. So he started making them himself. Since 2024 we do it together.

The name Mónos comes from the Greek mono, one. Because of every stone, in this exact shape and colour, there is only one.
